Romance Writers Weekly ~ Spooktacular Flash Fiction
The challenge is to write Halloween Flash Fiction – Write the start to a story with the words Dead, Kiss and Skeleton in it.
Everyone has a few skeletons in their closet. I’m no exception.
As I stand in my black body stocking with bones and wonder why I didn’t go
with something a bit sexier. I look ridiculous. I guess that’s the point, but
playing dead is not exactly my idea of a good time even if it is Halloween.
My bestie, Jane’s costume is a mad scientist and she needed a body to go
with her. I couldn’t say no.
If James is at this party, which he likely will be, I’m going to kill Jane.
There’s no way I’ll get a kiss wearing this thing.
The doorbell rings, and I open it.
Jane’s smile is wide and with the crazy white, red, and black make-up, she’s
a bit scary. “Look who I found.”
The pirate with his broad chest exposed behind her gives me a grin. James’s
smile makes my knees weak. “Hey there, gorgeous.”
Jane is a dead woman. Wait, did he just call me gorgeous?
HAHA That’s it for me. Click here to read what Leslie Hachtel has on tap.
