Romance Writers Weekly ~ Sports?
This week Brenda Margriet wants to know NHL, NBA, NFL, WNBA, FIFA – Do these acronyms mean anything to you? Are you a sports fan, and if so, of what team/sport?
Brenda is from Canada and totally left out MLB. LOL… I’m a huge baseball fan. We’re a Yankees household, but all Baseball is good in my opinion. We love the Little League World Series on TV, We love going up to Omaha for the College World Series. Basically, we love BASEBALL.
Why baseball, you might ask. I know a lot of people think it’s slow and boring, but you’d be wrong. There is so much going on. Besides the amazing athleticism on display, there is a complex mental game being played. It takes character to be the best baseball player. It takes intelligence and patience. I love every aspect of the game, though maybe not some of the politics. But that’s true of any facet of life.
In other sports, I love hockey and have been a NY Rangers fan all my life. Sadly, they haven’t been good in a while. Maybe this year. 😉
The thing about hockey is it’s just the opposite. It’s fast and furious. There’s little stoppage. Everything is quick and if you’ve never watched, it might take you a while to be able to follow the puck and the play. At first it might seem like a bunch of guys skating and bashing against each other. And that is true, but there’s a paly developing with every pass. It’s really quite beautiful.
I like football, but not as much as I used to. I don’t watch as much as I did when I was younger.
I like to watch tennis and golf. Most players in any sport have a great story to tell. I love the stories most of all. The Olympics is the greatest place to hear stories of overcoming adversity. I love a good busting-past-her-limitations story. Don’t you?
Hop back if you missed Brenda Margriet.
