Romance Writers Weekly ~ Set Them Free
I can’t believe it’s the last day of November already. It will be Christmas and New Years before we know it. I hope you’re doing well.
This week Clair Brett asks, after writing a book and publishing it, do the characters stay with you, or have a life after the book in your own mind or does their life/story end at the end of your book?
I think people want to hear that they continue on in my mind living a long and happy lives. And, I’m sure they do live wonderful lives, just not in my mind. Once I finish a book, I’m on to the next story. I have so many wonderful tales to tell, I can’t continue with those that have already had their Happily Ever After. It wouldn’t be fair to the next couple. I need all my energy focused on the book I’m writing. From time to time, those old characters do show up in another book. When that happens, they tell me all about how life in a committed relationship is going, so I can share some tidbit with you.
Otherwise, I leave the imaginings of what HEA means to all of you wonderful readers. What do you think happens to a loving pair of fictional characters after the book ends? Do you continue the story in your head?
Keep on Hopping for Clair Brett!
Clair Brett’s Ruination of a Rogue is just the holiday book to get you through. Be sure to pick it up for a feel-good read.

However, one beautiful and tempting young woman, unaware of him on any level, seems determined to cast him aside as well.
