Romance Writers Weekly ~ Inspiration!
I had a lovely vacation in Key West. I’m home safe and all of us are healthy. We kept it low key, but I enjoyed a wonderful visit to Ernest Hemingway’s house (with masks). It was wonderful with so many cats! They have 58 right now. All named and cared for by a private veterinarian who is on staff there. It was beautiful and inspiring. However, that’s not the answer to this week’s question. Ernest is a bit dark and troubled for inspiration.
Here’s the question:
Who inspires you? Maybe it’s Beyoncé, Abraham Lincoln, or your mom. Think about why this person inspires you and how you bring their wisdom into your life.
I’m inspired by hard work and constancy. Maybe that’s weird, but I love success stories more if someone really works at their craft rather than had success handed to them. Some authors that come to mind are Nora Roberts and Stephen King. I’ve read Stephen’s book On Writing. He writes every day. I love that. I try my best to write every day. Nora says if you want to be a writer, you sit down and write. You don’t complain about writer’s block. I read an interview with Nora where she was asked, how do you overcome writer’s block. I’m paraphrasing, but what she said was that you just sit in the damn chair and write every day. She basically doesn’t believe in “writer’s block.” These diligent and wildly successful authors inspire me to be constant and great.
Time will tell, if I succeed. xoxo
Keep on hopping for Clair Brett!
