  Did you know that it was bad form to lean during the Regency period. Yes. That’s right, gentlemen and ladies did not lounge or lean in public. No resting against a wall if you grew weary at the ball. I think lounging would have been impossible for women at balls, theatre or dinner parties. They were pretty well bound up in corsets. Did you know that when attending a ball, men were required to leave their swords at the door? Not only that… They had to remove their boots and put on dancing shoes. It was more of a slipper and protected the ladies toes from unexpected missteps. In many cases the weather might be bad and the ladies wore their boots to the ball as well.
