I love this one! You may know this story as The Princess and the Pea. If you love musicals, maybe you’ve seen Once Upon a Mattress. Do you know this one? It’s about another miller. I wonder why so many of these stories start with a miller. Anyway, this miller has three sons and when he dies he only has 3 possessions to leave them. The eldest son gets the mill the second an ass and the youngest a cat. Seems a bit unfair at the time, but the cat (who speaks and no one is surprised by this) convinces the youngest son not to eat him, to buy him a pair of fine boots and promises he will make it worth it in the end.
