Romance Writers Weekly ~ What’s in a Name…
Welcome back! This week we’re talking about author names. You know sometimes we make them up. I know, I know.
Here’s the question: What is the story behind your name? If you have a pen name, how did you come up with it?
So what do you think is Dani Jace‘s real name is? Hop back if you missed the answer.
What about me? It’s super secret. Come closer, closer… Pahaha… Just kidding. It’s really no secret at all. Here’s my story. I was born in New York and use to live in New Jersey. I’m married to Dave Mansue. He served as a Police Officer for 30 years and then retired. Now he is a professional bass fisherman. No really, I’m not kidding. We live in New Jersey until about eight years ago when we move to a small town in Texas.
When my first book, Mayan Afterglow was about to be published I had to choose a name. Our town is pretty small and Mayan Afterglow is pretty HOT. So I didn’t think it would be good to use Mansue. (Of course everyone knows now) I have a theory about married names, but that might be a conversation for another day. I love my husband and we are deliriously happy. But my name, the one I was born with is…. Drumroll please….. Andrea Sue Fenichel.
I know you’re shocked.
So, back to Mayan Afterglow. I wanted my name on the book, but it’s so long. LOL literally we’re sitting at the kitchen table discussing how my name will look on a book cover. My friends all call me Andie so we toyed with the idea of Andie Fenichel. But I just thought A.S. Fenichel had that air of mystery. Is this a man or a woman? Who is this A.S.? Pffft… I should have yelled it out a few time. Because, when someone yells it across the conference hall it just sounds like, “Ass…Ass Fenichel.”
LOL Well, live and learn. All in all, I’m happy with my pen name. After all, I am A.S. Fenichel and Andie Mansue and Andrea Sue Fenichel. Actually there have been a few other titles along my journey. But for now, A.S. Fenichel is the writer of books about love and romance.
There you have it! Now, let’s see how Brenda Margriet got her name.
