Romance Writer’s Weekly ~ Love it, Hate it
This week’s hop presented by Leslie Hachtel who wants to know: what’s your favorite part of the writing process? Research, plotting? And what’s your least favorite part.
Did you hop over from Leslie’s page. If not be sure to hop back, but first…
I love the blank page! That moment when anything is possible and the only thing standing in your way is your own imagination. Some writers are intimidated by the beginning. Some don’t know where to start and then some are like me and we love the unknown, change, adventure. The anticipation of typing in that first word and making a world all my own. Okay, I’m having a moment here…
My favorite part is writing the beginning in case you didn’t get that from my little euphoric rant. I mean every part of creating the rough draft is fun in it’s way. Hell, I get to craft a world, people and action that no
one else can do exactly the same way. I get to kill, maim, destroy, create, love and make love as I please with whatever means I create and the only limitation is my imagination. What could possibly be bad about that?
What I don’t like is my first read-through after the draft is complete.
This is work. This is a necessary evil to make what is in my head suitable for your head. Actually, when I put it that way, it’s pretty cool too. It is also a bit grueling. I don’t edit during my writing process so my rough is really ROUGH. That means that every single sentence is going to get some tweak, shift, reorder or completely deleted and rewritten. That’s okay though, because at the end of the day, I’m going to deliver a fabulous tale that is perfectly translated from my insane brain to something you will enjoy.
My life is awesome!
A few more fabulous authors to go. Check out what Kathryn Renard loves about writing.
For a few more days!
I totally get where you’re coming from! I love starting a new story, too, whether I’m reading or writing it!
I love that you said you get to kill, maim, destroy, create, love and make love as you please. What a great imagination!
