So, this one seems to lack an ending. It’s called, The Servant Maid and the Elves. While it has a good beginning in the fashion that the Grimms wrote. It seems to just end with no HEA to be found.   I like Jack and his beanstalk. I think it’s funny that if you are rich in a fairy tale, no matter how you got rich, you can easily marry a princess and live happily ever after. In the book from my childhood, Jack is a bit greedy and keeps going back after initially sealing a bag of gold from the giant. I’m always amazed by these children’s stories that do not have a good lesson or teach some important value. That is the case with The Tinder Box. This story comes from Denmark. It’s about a soldier on his way home from war. He meets a witch who gives him all the gold, silver and copper he could ever want in exchange for bring her a tinder box.
